ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED

The Starting Strength Gyms apprenticeship is now GI Bill® eligible.

The GI Bill® approval is a part of Starting Strength Gyms’ certification by the Department of Labor as a Registered Apprenticeship following National Program Standards.

If you’re a transitioning service member or veteran interested in a career as a professional strength coach, click here to talk to a recruiter.

After successfully earning a paid apprentice position at one of the Starting Strength Gyms locations, eligible veterans will receive E5 BAH at the w/dependent rate on top of their wages as apprentice coaches. The benefits are non-taxable and paid directly from the VA to the veteran.

The program is competency-based; apprenticeships last as long as needed for an apprentice to earn their Starting Strength Coach (SSC) credential.

We are also pursuing SkillBridge authorization, which would enable active duty service members to begin un-paid internships up to 180 days before their military separation date. We expect this process to take quite a while, as the application website indicates a significant backlog.
